Although much of the visitor accommodation in Lanzarote is in the form of self-catering villas and apartments, there are also a large number of hotels around the island. The dividing line between the different kinds of accommodation can be blurred by the existence of aparthotels that combine conventional hotel rooms with some self-catering accommodation.
To give a rough idea of the scale of accommodation available, the Alpharooms website contains a total of 246 hotels and apartment complexes, presented in alphabetical order, while Hotels4U lists 63 hotels in Puerto Del Carmen, 28 in each of Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise and a handful in Puerto Calero but includes some apartments and not all hotels in other locations, such as Yaiza, inland from the shoreline. Hotels in Lanzarote include those owned by well-known international names and smaller premises, for those on a more modest budget.
A point to note is that, apart from one tower, in Arrecife, Lanzarote – under the influence of Cesar Manrique – has not allowed high rise development anywhere on the island. This is not Benidorm. A couple or three stories is more the norm.

The hotel also provides daytime and evening entertainment, with a separate mini club for kids and there is a TV room as well as a library.
Hotels have their particularly strong individual features. The Jameos Playa Hotel, for example, has a landscaped area with interlinked pools and lots of palm trees. The Beatriz Playa has a piano bar, mini golf, car and bike hire and baby-sitting service, to name just a few of its amenities. Other hotels have their own signature services.
